Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is offering a part-time Maternity Community Support Worker role within the Post-Operative team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury. You will support the registered midwife or nurse in delivering high-quality post-operative maternity care to patients and their families.

The role requires Level 2/3 in health and social care or equivalent, with willingness to work towards further qualifications, and you’ll join a dedicated team delivering compassionate,

  • Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience
  • Willing to work towards Level 2 functional skills (Math & English)
  • Care Certificate/working towards

Responsibilities

  • To assist the registered nurse or midwife in the delivery of high quality and person-centered post-operative care.
  • To provide fundamental nursing and midwifery care, e.g., assistance with personal hygiene, eating and drinking, mobility needs, washing under direct or indirect supervision.
  • To carry out limited clinical observations and undertake a range of activities under direct or indirect supervision by a registered nurse or midwife, having been assessed as deemed competent in the activities required.
  • To maintain high clinical standards
  • To help maintain a clean and safe ward environment.
  • To contribute towards the department and organisation in the provision of a safe and caring environment.
  • The post holder may be required to work anywhere within the Trust.

Education

Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience

Job overview

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated maternity community support worker to join our community midwifery team.

This role is based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

To support and assist the registered midwife or nurse in the delivery of care to patients within maternity, primarily post-operative birth care, ensuring the highest possible standards of care are received by patients and their carers.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
  • Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience

EXPERIENCE
  • Experience of working with people, ideally in a front-line customer service role.
  • Experience of providing person centred care.
  • An understanding of the importance of patient confidentially and privacy.
  • Recognise how patients and colleagues need to be treated with dignity and respect and can demonstrate these behaviours in their daily work.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.
  • The ability to respond with kindness and humanity to patients.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach with the aptitude to work in a busy hospital healthcare setting.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety with an awareness of the importance of following Trust policies and procedures.
