Job summary

Medway NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Lead Midwife for Education to provide strategic and operational leadership for education, training, workforce development and practice learning across maternity services.

The post holder will lead education programme development, evaluation and governance, collaborating with HEIs, NHS England and LMNS to ensure high-quality learning environments and outcomes for staff, learners, women and families.

Qualifications

• Registered Midwife with current UK registration
• Degree in Midwifery or relevant subject
• Teaching qualification
• Practice Assessor/Supervisor qualification or equivalent
• Knowledge of Education governance and quality assurance requirements
• Knowledge of Simulation and clinical skills education methodologies
• Senior leadership experience at Band 7 or above
• Experience leading education/workforce development or practice learning programmes

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the Maternity Education Strategy.
• Provide expert professional leadership on education, workforce development and practice learning across maternity services.
• Act as a member of the maternity senior leadership team contributing to workforce, quality and service improvement agendas.
• Lead all pre-registration and post-registration education activity within maternity services.
• Oversee student midwife placements and ensure a high-quality learning environment that meets NMC standards.
• Lead implementation of the NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment.
• Develop and monitor education programmes, competency frameworks and learning pathways for all maternity staff groups.
