Job summary

Griffin Primary School is seeking a maternity cover Year 1 teacher to provide engaging and high-quality lessons for children aged 5–6. The successful candidate will be creative, patient and able to work well in a team, while upholding the Year 1 National Curriculum and fostering early reading and maths progress.

The role requires enthusiasm, dedication to safeguarding and the wider life of the school, and excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues and parents.

Qualifications

• QTS (preferably with experience of working in Year 1)
• Good knowledge/understanding of the Year 1 National Curriculum expectations
• Willingness to be involved in the wider life of the school
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Teach Year 1 (ages 5–6) to deliver the Year 1 National Curriculum
• Support children's individual needs and foster reading and maths development
• Collaborate effectively with a supportive staff team
• Engage in reflective practice and a researching approach to improve teaching

We are looking to recruit a maternity cover teacher, to teach Year 1.

The successful candidate will have the energy, enthusiasm and passion to work with children aged 5-6 years, with an excellent knowledge of the Year 1 National Curriculum and early reading and maths. They will have the ability to recognise all children's individual needs and support them to succeed, alongside a great team of staff. They will be observant and motivated to engage in reflective practice and a researching approach.

• Is passionate about enabling children to fulfil their potential socially and academically and is patient, thoughtful and empathetic
• Has the enthusiasm and ambition to make our Year 1 learning experience outstanding for our children Is able to work effectively in a team and to show commitment and dedication to the life of the school
