Job summary

Breedon Group plc in Scotland seeks a Materials Technician to perform laboratory and site-based testing of aggregates, concrete, asphalt and soils. You will support QA/QC processes and ensure materials meet specifications.

The role is hands-on, outdoors when required, with training provided. You will record data accurately, operate testing equipment, and assist with audits while adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, Science and English required.
• Basic maths and scientific principles understood.
• Ability to follow procedures and technical instructions.
• Valid UK driving licence essential for site-based work.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory and field testing on materials (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt).
• Ensure testing aligns with industry standards and project specs.
• Prepare samples and test to assess strength, composition, durability, performance.
• Record, analyse and report results accurately and promptly.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure safe operation.
• Assist in collecting material samples from sites and quarries.
