Job summary

NEOS Engineering Recruitment is seeking a Materials Preparation Supervisor for a growing manufacturing operation near Portrush. You will oversee the materials preparation department and ensure timely supply to fabrication teams.

You will allocate workloads, coordinate cutting and drilling, check production drawings, monitor stock, and drive safety and housekeeping standards to reduce waste and improve workflow.

Qualifications

• Experience in steel preparation or fabrication industries.
• Experience supervising a team in a busy engineering environment.
• Ability to read production drawings and cutting lists.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

The successful candidate will oversee the preparation and movement of steel and production materials, ensuring components are processed correctly and supplied to fabrication teams on time.

The Role

• Supervise the materials preparation department.
• Allocate daily workloads across the team.
• Coordinate cutting, drilling and material preparation.
• Ensure materials are prepared against drawings and production schedules.
• Monitor stock availability and material usage.
• Work closely with fabrication, purchasing and planning teams.
• Ensure completed components meet dimensional requirements.
• Maintain production, safety and housekeeping standards.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve workflow.

The Candidate

• Experience within steel preparation, fabrication or manufacturing.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Knowledge of cutting, drilling and material-processing equipment.
• Able to understand production drawings and cutting lists.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Experience coordinating materials in a busy engineering environment.
• Forklift or overhead crane experience is beneficial.
