Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Materials Manager for our Leeds facility. The role involves ensuring high standards of materials management, stock control, QA, and traceability, with hands-on support for issuing materials to the shop floor and offloading as needed.

You will review MTOs and datasheets, liaise with Fabrication supervisors, and coordinate delivery schedules to meet project programmes. The position emphasizes compliance, teamwork, and continuous improvement within a leading engineering

• Oil and Gas or related piping materials experience.
• Proactive individual focused on improvement and team engagement.
• Able to develop positive working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of the wider organisation and how it functions within the external environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high level and consistent approach to all specialist materials management, proactive stock monitoring, quality assurance, specification compliance, and traceability on all projects.
• Review MTOs, Isometrics and data sheets to ensure materials are compliant and available for issue to the facility.
• Maintain liaison with the Materials Team on material receipts, certification, and delivery schedules to the facility.
• Work closely with Fabrication supervisors to ensure programmes and material issues are addressed timely.
• Ensure SWS/PTS project controls are complete, review drawings, and complete isometric material issue to align with production schedule.
• Maintain traceability for materials to Original Certification and Client, quarantine non-conforming materials.
• Manage Quarantine Register and coordinate releases or replacements.
• Supervise the assistant and ensure coverage of all activities.
• Establish and maintain a Material Schedule listing all permanent materials per purchase orders.
• Carry out receipt inspection of all permanent materials, including welding electrodes.
• Manage storage, handling and issue of electrodes per procedures.
• Maintain certification records and liaise with the wider Specialist Materials Team.
