Job description

MaterialisIndustrialised Engineer (Advanced joining and forming)

Location: Sherwood, Nottingham

Construction has operated the same way for generations. We're changing that. Our vision is to transform construction through industrialised manufacturing—creating, proving and deploying technologies that make building safer, smarter, faster and more predictable.

At Laing O'Rourke, our R&D Manufacturing team is turning breakthrough ideas into real-world solutions that are redefining how construction is delivered. As part of the Technology & Innovation team, they sit at the forefront of the industry's evolution, accelerating the shift from traditional building methods to a smarter, more advanced future.

With the capability to create digital twins, develop bespoke production lines, trial emerging manufacturing technologies and test new products at scale, this is far more than modern methods of construction. It is the future of construction, being built today.

Behind every DfMA innovation lies a sophisticated programme of research, testing and validation. Working closely with our in-house design, digital engineering, manufacturing and delivery teams, the R&D Manufacturing team transforms ambitious concepts into scalable, industry-changing solutions that are shaping the next generation of construction.

The opportunity

We're looking for an engineer who can bring together materials knowledge, manufacturing expertise and practical problem-solving to help develop scalable production solutions. Working across R&D and industrialisation programmes, you'll influence how products move from concept and validation into repeatable, efficient manufacture.
