Job summary

MSS is a specialist materials testing business based in Swindon. We are seeking a Materials / Field Technician to join our growing team, performing on-site sampling and testing across construction, infrastructure and highway projects, with some laboratory work.

The role requires testing soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt materials, accurate data recording, and close collaboration with clients and site teams to ensure high quality, safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction, materials testing or a related technical environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confident using digital systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to travel and work varying hours when required.

Responsibilities

• Attend construction and infrastructure sites to carry out sampling and testing activities.
• Conduct testing on soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt materials.
• Accurately record and upload test data using company systems.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure it remains calibrated and serviceable.
• Liaise with clients, site teams and colleagues to ensure quality and compliance requirements are met.
• Support both site-based and laboratory testing activities as required.
• Travel across the region to support projects and client requirements.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures and health and safety requirements.
