Job summary

MSS, part of the Celnor Group, is seeking a Materials / Field Technician in Southampton. The role combines on-site sampling and testing with laboratory work across construction and infrastructure projects.

You will work with clients, contractors and colleagues to ensure accurate test results, quality assurance and timely data entry. Travel across surrounding areas is required, with training and career development provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction or materials testing in a technical environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend construction and infrastructure sites to carry out sampling and testing.
• Test soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt materials.
• Record and upload test data using company systems.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
• Liaise with clients and site teams to ensure quality and compliance.
• Support both site-based and laboratory testing activities.
• Follow company procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Travel across the region to support projects.
