Field Technician, Materials Engineering (Junior)

Your role within the team

• Assist and perform on-site concrete testing for Temperature, Air, Slump, and casting of compressive strength cylinders according to OPSS and CCIL standards.
• Sample various construction materials for laboratory testing; monitor placement and workmanship of materials.
• Prepare and collect field samples for laboratory analysis; perform compaction testing of asphalt and soils using Nuclear Densometer as per project specifications; assist in asphalt and concrete coring for thickness and material analysis; monitor paving operations for material verification, tack coat application, temperatures, lift thickness, surface issues, and report concerns.
• Ensure accuracy of test data and prepare quality control testing reports.
• Maintain all company equipment in good condition.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, completing tasks within set timeframes.
• Coordinate with team members, subcontractors, clients, and agencies.

The ideal candidate

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician or equivalent.
• Valid Ontario driver's license and access to reliable transportation; willing to work on weekends, nights, shifts, and additional hours as needed.
• Strong teamwork, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Knowledge of construction materials and ability to interpret specifications and drawings is an asset.
• CCIL/ACI concrete testing certification is an asset.
