Job summary

Stagecoach Bow Bus Garage in London is seeking a multi-skilled vehicle technician to maintain and repair our fleet of buses, including Dennis, Volvo and Scania and new electric buses.

You will undertake routine maintenance, diagnostic investigations on engines, fuel systems, turbo, ABS/EBS braking, service wheelchair ramps, perform mechanical and electrical tasks, and contribute to improving vehicle reliability with a proactive maintenance strategy.

Qualifications

  • Experience working on buses and performing routine maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose engines, fuel systems, turbo, ABS/EBS braking systems using test equipment.
  • Capable of servicing wheelchair ramps and performing mechanical/electrical work as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair a fleet of buses to ensure reliability.
  • Undertake diagnostic investigations on vehicle defects and identify faults.
  • Carry out routine preventative maintenance according to schedules.
  • Assist in training apprentices and sharing technical knowledge.
  • Support management in improving vehicle reliability through data and action.

Salary

Salary £1,203.00 per week for a 37.5 hours

We need you!! If you love being a multi-skilled vehicle technician but you’re thinking “I fancy a change”, “I want more variety” or “I want to work in a team”, then we may just have exactly what you’re looking for! You’ve probably seen some of our vehicles driving around the East London area and the City, transporting our fantastic customers across London. Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering team you’ll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that. It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are! You’ll have the responsibility for maintaining and repairing our fleet of buses. Our buses include Dennis, Volvo and Scania and thus there’s some state of the art vehicles to work on. There are also some new electric buses in the fleet.

You need to have worked on buses before and be able to: undertake routine, preventative maintenance in accordance with Company maintenance schedules. undertake diagnostic investigations on reported vehicle defects including engines, fuel systems, turbos, air, hydraulic and ABS/EBS braking systems using laptops and other test equipment and to identify faults and carry out repairs where practical to do so. service and repair wheelchair ramps from various manufacturers. undertake mechanical/electrical and bodywork tasks as necessary in order to facilitate repairs. action repairs and test repairs have been effective. keep abreast of technical developments and new equipment introduced. assist in the technical training of mechanical/electrical apprentices. assisting management in reviewing vehicle reliability statistics and formulating a maintenance strategy to improve vehicle reliability.

You’ll be supported by a great team of fellow Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians, Storespeople, Administrators and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job. And it’s not all garage-based work. You could find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won’t always be the same four walls you’re looking at!
