Job summary

## Master TechnicianApplylocations: Barking Garage (DX)time type: Full timeposted on: Posted 24 Days Agojob requisition id: JR032294We are looking for an experienced and ambitious **PSV Master Technician** to join Arriva at our Barking depot on a full-time, permanent basis.The Master Technician will act as the focal point within the depot for complex technical issues and OBD diagnostics, serving as the key link between engineers and the Engineering Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and providing technical guidance on engines, gearboxes, axles, and electrical faults, including body systems.You will bring multi-system expertise and lead complex fault-finding activities, particularly in areas such as CAN systems, after-treatment exhaust systems, Euro 5/Euro 6 engines, multiplex systems, electrical faults, and high-voltage/hybrid diagnostics.### What Arriva can offer you:* 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday* Ongoing training and development, including High Voltage Level 1–4 / EV training, roadside assistance, IRTEC accreditation, and diagnostics training* Free bus travel for you and a nominated family member* Opportunity to train for and upgrade your licence to drive a bus* Access to the Arriva Village – retail discounts and offers worth up to £1,200 per year* Arriva Wellbeing Support* 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays (rising to 25 days after 5 years’ service)* Arriva Workplace Pension* Full PPE and workwear provided### Main Responsibilities:* Act as the first point of contact for advanced fault finding and technical repairs across specific bus types* Carry out diagnostic testing on a wide range of company vehicles and equipment* Serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical and electrical diagnostics* Take ownership of technical campaigns and fleet checks within the depot* Report identified faults to the Technical and Systems Manager* Provide technical advice and support to the Engineering Manager* Support projects and trials on behalf of the Engineering Director and/or Technical Manager* Build strong working relationships with engineers and mentor apprentices where appropriate* Maintain effective communication with chassis/body manufacturers and OEM suppliers### Key Skills and Experience:* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification* Strong understanding of diagnostic equipment and electrical components (e.g. alternators, starter motors, wiring harnesses)* Experience with diagnostic software such as Cummins Insite, Volvo Tech Tool, ACTIA, WABCO, and Xentry* Proficient in IT systems including Excel, Word, and Outlook* Good understanding of the Company Operating Licence requirements* Willingness to continually develop skills and attend training* Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points)* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively* Flexible approach to changing priorities within a busy depot environment* Ability to meet PCV pre-employment medical standards### About UsArriva is a leading provider of passenger transport across Europe, employing around 34,400 people and delivering around 1.6 billion passenger journeys.
