Job summary

Buckinghamshire Council is seeking an Assistant Team Manager for the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) in Aylesbury. You will support the Team Manager in day‑to‑day management and contribute to safeguarding children and young people.

The role requires a social work qualification and Social Work England registration, with leadership experience, strong communication, and knowledge of child welfare legislation. We offer development opportunities, flexible working, and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent and current registration with Social Work England.
• Experience in child protection or safeguarding, preferably in a multi‑agency setting.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and support a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, families and professionals.
• Sound knowledge of legislation and policy relating to child welfare and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor social workers and support staff to ensure high‑quality practice and safeguarding compliance.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and best practices within the MASH.
• Conduct assessments and reviews to identify risks and ensure appropriate interventions.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to facilitate information sharing and coordinated responses.
• Participate in case discussions and decision‑making processes to safeguard children and young people.
