Location Flexible/Hybrid: Work-from-home with the expectation to attend networking events and Power 2 Connects service delivery at various locations across Wandsworth.

ABOUT POWER TO CONNECT

Power to Connect is dedicated to bridging the digital divide in the London Borough of Wandsworth. Since we launched in April 2020, we have provided digital devices, skills training, and ongoing support to over 4,500 individuals and families experiencing digital exclusion. Our mission is to ensure that every resident, regardless of their background, has access to the connectivity, technology, and digital skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital society. We bring a holistic approach to digital inclusion, combining three core activities:

• Device Redistribution: Collecting, refurbishing, and redistributing unused laptops, tablets, and smartphones donated by local businesses and individuals.

• Digital Skills Training: Providing group workshops and one-to-one support sessions covering essential digital skills, online safety and financial literacy.

• Wraparound Support: Offering free data packages, IT maintenance advice, and referral pathways to other community services to ensure ongoing digital confidence and independence.

Digital exclusion leads to poorer educational outcomes, limited job opportunities, social isolation, and reduced access to healthcare and support services. Our work directly addresses these challenges by providing the tools and skills necessary to thrive.

Our community-led approach ensures that our services are responsive, accessible, and impactful. We work closely with local schools, community organisations and volunteers to reach those who need our help the most.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a proactive, highly organised, and confident communicator to join our small but ambitious team as Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator. This is a varied and rewarding role - perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting the growth of a community-led charity.

As Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator you’ll play a central role in connecting our internal operations with the wider community. You’ll lead on delivering engaging marketing and communications to a range of stakeholders, including funders, corporate partners, community members, and volunteers. At the same time, you’ll manage and support our growing team of volunteers - helping to build a strong, committed network that powers our work.

It’s an exciting time to join Power to Connect as we expand our programmes and partnerships. You’ll help shape how we tell our story, grow our reach and strengthen our presence across Wandsworth and beyond.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing & Communications (50%)

• Develop and deliver creative, targeted marketing campaigns to promote device donations, fundraising appeals and our services.

• Manage our social media channels, including paid social media marketing (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram), creating and scheduling engaging content, responding to interactions.

• Produce regular email newsletters and stakeholder updates using platforms like Mailchimp.

• Maintain and update our website (WordPress), ensuring content is accurate and accessible.

• Create a range of content — including graphics, videos, stories - that brings our work to life and demonstrates impact.

• Work with the team to gather stories, photos, and feedback from beneficiaries and volunteers to highlight the real-world impact of our programmes.

• Support the development of printed materials including flyers, brochures and annual/ impact reports. • Support donor and partner engagement by developing tailored communications and showcasing shared successes.

• Represent the organisation at local outreach events and support grassroots promotional efforts to increase visibility and connection within the community.

• Ensure all communications are inclusive, accessible and consistent with our mission.

• Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of volunteers across our programmes (IT Volunteers, Transport Volunteers, Digital Champion Volunteers).

• Maintain open, ongoing communication with volunteers, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and valued.

• Coordinate volunteer scheduling, roles, and any required training or guidance.

• Work closely with the CEO and Digital Tutors to match volunteer support to operational needs.

• Support the development and implementation of effective policies and procedures for successful volunteer coordination.

• Keep up-to-date records and contact lists of all volunteers.

• Serve as the main point of contact for volunteer enquiries, feedback, and day-today support.

Please note: The above list of key responsibilities is not exhaustive. The post holder may be required to undertake additional tasks, within the scope of the role, and provide operational support to the Power to Connect team as needed.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for a variety of audiences.

• Experience in digital marketing, communications or stakeholder engagement.

• Confident in using social media platforms, email marketing tools (e.g. Mailchimp), website content management systems (e.g. WordPress), design software (e.g. Canva) and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Confident engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including community members, corporate partners, funders and volunteers.

• Able to work independently and collaboratively within a small, fast-paced team.

• A strong commitment to digital inclusion, community empowerment, and social equity in both communication and practice.

• Experience working with volunteers or within a community-led environment.

• Previous experience in the charity or non-profit sector.

• Knowledge of Wandsworth’s local communities and networks.

• Understanding of impact reporting and communicating outcomes to funders.

• Experience working with or supporting corporate partnerships.

WHY JOIN US?

• Be part of a passionate, mission-driven charity making a real difference in people’s lives.

• Shape the voice and reach of a growing organisation.

• Gain varied experience across communications, community outreach and volunteer engagement.

• Flexible working options and a supportive team environment.
