Job summary

Nomura is seeking a Market Data Content Business Analyst on a 12-month contract in London. The role sits in Wholesale Data and Ops Technology and covers front-to-back acquisition, data governance and financial management of content data across global markets.

You will coordinate with vendor managers, governance teams and business units to optimise market data cost, oversee trials, renewals and approvals, and drive process improvements with a strong focus on risk, controls and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Seasoned professional with knowledge of trade life cycle, markets and products.
• Experience in investment bank or broker/dealer environment; middle office or operations experience welcome.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling effective liaison with senior management and stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, fast learner, proactive in identifying process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to question procedures for efficiency and streamlining.

Role Description:

Market Data Content is the commercial owner for the front-to-back acquisition, data governance and financial management of content data, providing both Market, Index and Reference Data. Market Data Content is a global function with teams based in Japan, Hong Kong, New York, London and Powai. The main roles within the team include Vendor Managers, Business Analysts, Lifecycle Management and Governance. Working together, we strive to offer the business access to the services they need in both an efficient manner and at the right cost.

• Responsible for managing market data relationships between Business Stakeholders and External Data Providers
• Authority to approve or reject market data service requests, ensuring alignment with firm cost and / or domain strategy
• Oversight of market data trials and implementations for each Business Unit
• Oversight of market data renewals and cancellations for each Business Unit
• Lead market data cost optimisation initiatives and provide advisory services to Business Units

Key objectives critical to success:

• To understand the business' requirements and collaborate on market data solution enablement and cost optimisation opportunities (regional)
• To identify global opportunities and challenge the cost optimisation of Business Units (global)
• To govern the core market data processes that directly impact the Business Units, as the 'voice' for Market Data Content
• To ensure Business Units are aware of their Market Data risk and obligations, and collaborate on any mitigation efforts

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

Essential

• A seasoned professional with sufficient knowledge of trade life cycle, markets and products gained through work experience
• Experience working in an investment bank or broker/dealer environment (experience in Middle Office and/or Operations are welcome)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills enabling the individual to liaise effectively and share information with Nomura senior management and other key stakeholders throughout the industry.
• A self motivator who is a fast learner and able to work proactively to identify opportunities for process improvement and/or realising cost save.
• Must have good analytical skills and a strong attention to detail. The ability to question existing practises/procedures, ensuring efficiency and recognition of streamlining opportunities are all key.
• A strong sense of customer service and the abilty to prioritise workload and the expectations of internal clients.
• Work well within an extended team environment (on shore and off shore) and take a keen interest in developing the function
• Basic Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills required
• Confidence to represent the department at any relevant internal meetings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
