Government Recruitment Service in Belfast is seeking a Small Craft Surveyor to survey and inspect small and non-convention vessels, ensuring compliance with UK and international safety and environmental standards. • As directed by the Technical Manager or Principal Marine Surveyor, provide training to or mentor Marine Surveyor colleagues to ensure consistent MCA activities.
• Carry out surveys leading to statutory certificates for small vessels; act as lead surveyor in most cases, including issuing certification and advising the public and colleagues.
• Inspect small vessels and port installations to ensure compliance with international conventions and UK requirements.
• Provide industry and public guidance per MCA policies; be the point of contact for communications with vessel owners or companies; contribute to a high-quality survey service.
• Maintain training and competence records; complete development opportunities to ensure skills and impartiality are upheld.
