Job summary

Government Recruitment Service seeks a skilled Small Craft Surveyor for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. You will survey small/non-convention vessels, issue certificates, and provide expert technical advice to owners and colleagues.

The role supports UK and international safety and environmental standards across MCA offices. You’ll mentor Marine Surveyors, lead surveys, and help ensure consistent, high-quality survey and inspection services while maintaining records and developing competence

Qualifications

• Experience training or mentoring Marine Surveyor colleagues.
• Experience surveying/survey and inspection activities for vessels.
• Knowledge of UK/International safety, security and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and mentoring to Marine Surveyor colleagues per MCA guidance.
• Lead surveys and issue statutory certificates for small/non-convention vessels; advise and support stakeholders.
• Inspect small/non-convention vessels and port installations to ensure compliance with international conventions and UK requirements.
• Advise industry and the public per MCA policies and serve as point of contact for vessel owners and companies.
• Maintain training/competence records and support MO teams for consistent delivery.
