Job summary

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency's Survey and Inspection function is seeking a Small Craft Surveyor - Nautical in Aberdeen. You will survey and inspect small and non-convention vessels, issuing certificates and advising vessel owners and colleagues on compliance with UK and international standards.

This is a permanent, full-time role with a clear path to delivering high-quality survey services. As part of the MCA team, you will mentor colleagues, lead surveying where appropriate, and support

Qualifications

• Experience surveying small or non-convention vessels.
• Ability to issue statutory certificates and provide technical advice.
• Understanding of UK and international maritime safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out surveys of small/non-convention vessels to issue statutory certificates.
• Lead survey work in all but the most complex cases and advise the public and industry.
• Inspect vessels and port installations to ensure compliance with international conventions and UK requirements.
• Provide MCA policy guidance and act as a point of contact for designated parties.
• Support training and development to maintain competence and uphold MCA standards.
