Job summary

Quast Ltd, on behalf of a large defence organisation, seeks an experienced Safety Engineer to provide technical advice in support of maritime equipment acquisition and through-life management. The role focuses on Acquisition Safety policy, safety engineering solutions, and management of project safety risks to ensure equipment and systems are safe and fit for purpose.

The position is hybrid, based near Abbey Wood, Bristol, with 2–3 days in the office, and requires current SC clearance.

Qualifications

• STEM qualification at RQF Level 4 or above.
• Experience providing technical advice and delivering safety outcomes.
• Technical experience in safety systems across contexts.
• Professional registration with EngTech or RSciTech, or equivalent.
• Alternative: Level 6 qualification in STEM without registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice in support of Acquisition Safety policy.
• Deliver safety engineering solutions for equipment and systems.
• Manage through-life safety risks for projects.
• Ensure safe and suitable equipment and services for Front Line Commands.
• Provide expertise in System Safety Policy and Governance.
• Support System Safety Management activities.
• Contribute to System Safety Assurance and Audit activities.
• Collaborate with engineers across acquisition lifecycle.
