Job summary

The Port of London Authority is recruiting for a Harbour Safety Manager based in Gravesend. You will manage the Marine Safety Management System, conduct risk assessments and lead audits to ensure regulatory compliance.

You will publish notices and documents and liaise with printers and contractors to disseminate information. The role requires STCW OOW certification or equivalent, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a safety‑critical environment.

Qualifications

• STCW (OOW Unlimited) Certificate of Competency or equivalent.
• Ability to lead and manage effectively.
• Proven interpersonal skills.
• Strong writing skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the safety management system and risk assessment processes.
• Manage the Marine Safety Management System operations and navigational risk database.
• Lead auditing of the Marine Safety Management System and track findings to completion.
• Publish and distribute notices, regulations and PLA marine publications with printers/contractors.
