Job summary

SVITZER, a global towage leader, seeks a Marine Engineer to join our Floating Pool in the UK with a clear path to Chief Engineer, supported by funded training. You will manage operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of vessel systems while advancing to senior roles.

This hands-on role requires EOOW qualification, strong fault diagnosis, report writing, and teamwork across deck and engine teams. Flexible UK port assignments and on/off rotation underpin career development.

Qualifications

• Minimum STCW EOOW Small Vessel <9000 kW / <3000 GT.
• All STCW Basic Training completed and current.
• ENG1 medical with at least 6 months until expiry.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Operational excellence: ensure machinery on board is in top condition and operate it during vessel operations.
• Safety first: maintain the safe operation of vessels, engines, generators and associated machinery.
• Meticulous maintenance: keep machinery (deck and engine) up to standard at all times.
• Ownership: supervise and train engineering staff and maintain a clean, hazard-free spaces.
• Defect management: report and log faults, prioritise repairs with Master and Superintendent.
• Routine upkeep: perform planned maintenance and ensure PM system is executed.
• Coordination: assist in dry-docking, surveys and cross-department collaboration.
• Adaptability: take on additional duties and pursue mandatory/professional development.
