Job summary

Caterpillar Marine in Wimborne, Dorset, is offering a 12-month Industrial Placement in Electrical Engineering. You will work on electrical system and control development for marine products from 10kW to 750kW, and engage in design, testing and cross-functional collaboration.

Applicants should be in penultimate year or enrolled in an integrated master’s program; target minimum 2:1 honours in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

Qualifications

• Penultimate year student or enrolled in an integrated master’s program for a 12-month placement.
• Minimum 2:1 honours degree level in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (as applicable to role).

Responsibilities

• Design of marine generator control systems and associated equipment.
• Wiring schematics & harness design.
• Technical calculations.
• Component / sub-systems supplier review.
• Liaison with shop floor personnel on assembly and manufacture of product.
• Carry out all work in accordance with company policies and procedures.
