Job summary

Raymarine, a Teledyne Technologies division, seeks a Design Engineer to develop robust mechanical components and sub-systems from concept to production. You will craft 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, apply DFx principles, run prototypes and verifications, and work with hardware, software and suppliers to meet performance and regulatory standards.

This hands-on role requires engineering excellence, strong teamwork, and a willingness to travel to suppliers and customers.

Qualifications

• Degree in product design, mechanical design engineering or related subject.
• Experience in mechanical design in high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and manufacturing drawings.
• Understanding of casting, injection moulding and machining.
• Experience developing products from concept through prototyping, testing and production.
• Knowledge of design for quality and design for manufacture principles.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with attention to detail.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; on-site work four days a week.
• Export control requirements and eligibility for US export regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical components and sub-systems throughout full product development life cycle.
• Identify and evaluate technologies and design solutions that meet functional and performance requirements.
• Create robust mechanical designs, 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Apply engineering principles, simulations, failure analysis, DfM and GD&T to improve product quality.
• Build prototypes and carry out verification and validation tests.
• Plan and manage design activities to meet project timescales and budget constraints.
• Collaborate with project management, hardware, software, supply chain and compliance as well as external suppliers.
• Travel to suppliers or customers as required, including Asia and the Americas.
• Adhere to legislation and Raymarine policies on ethics, cyber security, product development, labour and environment.
• Undertake all mandatory training as requested.
