Job summary

Raymarine is seeking a Design Engineer to develop mechanical components from concept through production. You will create robust 3D models and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks, build prototypes, and verify designs with tests.

You’ll collaborate across PM, hardware, software, and supply chain to meet performance, cost and regulatory requirements. The role focuses on hands-on product development, solving technical challenges, and bringing innovative marine electronics to life.

Qualifications

• Degree in product design, mechanical design engineering or related subject.
• Proven mechanical design experience, ideally in high-volume manufacturing.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and manufacturing drawings.
• Understanding of casting, injection moulding and machining.
• Experience taking products from concept through prototyping, testing and production.
• Knowledge of design for quality and design for manufacture.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Fluent in English and willing to work onsite with the team four days per week.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical components and sub-systems throughout the full product development life cycle.
• Create robust mechanical designs, three-dimensional models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Build prototypes and carry out verification and validation tests.
• Plan and manage design activities to meet project timescales and budget constraints.
• Work closely with project management, hardware, software, supply chain and compliance, and external suppliers.
• Travel to suppliers or customers as required.
• Adhere to all applicable policies and training requirements.
