Job summary

Raymarine in the United Kingdom is seeking a Design Engineer to develop robust, manufacturable products from concept to production. You will design components and sub-systems, create 3D models and detailed drawings, and collaborate across engineering disciplines to ensure performance and cost targets are met.

Key qualifications include a degree in product or mechanical design, strong SolidWorks skills, and experience from concept through prototyping to production.

Qualifications

• Degree in product design or mechanical design engineering is required or equivalent.
• Proven experience in a mechanical design role, ideally in high-volume manufacturing.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modelling and manufacturing drawings.
• Good understanding of casting, injection moulding and machining processes.
• Experience developing products from concept through prototyping, testing and production.
• Knowledge of design for quality and design for manufacture principles.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical components and sub-systems through full product life cycle.
• Create robust mechanical designs, 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Apply engineering principles, simulation, failure analysis, and DFM to improve quality.
• Build prototypes and verify/test designs with hands-on testing.
• Plan design activities to meet project timescales and budgets.
• Collaborate with project management, hardware, software, supply chain and suppliers.
