Job description

Job Description

Role: MAPPA Co-ordinator (Justice Services)
Location: GCHSCP, 80 Norfolk Street, Glasgow, G5 9EJ
Contract Status: Permanent

Are you interested in working for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community? Then, you are in the right place!

At Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP), we are committed to public protection. The aim of the team is to mitigate the risks presented by individuals subject to public protection processes, which involves multi-agency collaboration.

The role of the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) Co-ordinator is both strategic and operational. MAPPA Co-ordinators play a critical role in supporting and advising Responsible Authorities on the operation of MAPPA within their geographical area.

The MAPPA Strategic Oversight Group (SOG) will provide specific direction to the MAPPA Co-ordinator regarding their role and responsibilities. The role includes the following key responsibilities:

  1. Support for Responsible Authorities
  2. Provide a central point of reference/consultancy to Responsible Authorities, duty to co-operate, and other relevant agencies in line with Memorandums of Understanding
  3. Assist Responsible Authorities within the MAPPA region to develop policies, procedures, and local guidance supporting MAPPA operations in line with national guidance
  4. Support the development and maintenance of links between MAPPA and other public protection partnerships
  5. Liaise with senior partners to resolve issues impacting MAPPA's effective operation
  6. Work with Responsible Authorities to ensure the delivery of the MAPPA annual report
  7. Support the assessment of training needs and coordinate relevant training delivery/access

Candidates must have working knowledge of the MAPPA process. Operational experience, preferably at management level, working with sex offenders and violent offenders within Social Work, Police, Scottish Prison Services, Health Service, or other relevant agencies, is essential.

Excellent analytical and administrative skills are required, along with experience in delivering training.

Applicants should be educated to diploma or degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject. Please refer to the Person Specification for full details of the qualifications, skills, knowledge, and competencies required.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential upon appointment. Successful candidates will need to pay for their PVG membership or scheme checks.

This role is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

If you'd like to learn more about the role before applying, contact Jennifer Butler, Service Manager, at 07741 291374 or via email.
