At Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP), we are committed to public protection. The aim of the team is to mitigate the risks presented by individuals subject to public protection processes, which involves multi-agency collaboration.

The role of the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) Co-ordinator is both strategic and operational. MAPPA Co-ordinators play a critical role in supporting and advising the Responsible Authorities on the operation of the MAPPA within their allocated geographical area.

The MAPPA Strategic Oversight Group (SOG) will provide specific direction to the MAPPA Co-ordinator regarding their role and responsibilities. It is expected that the role includes:

  1. Support for Responsible Authorities
  • Provide a central point of reference/consultancy to Responsible Authorities, duty to co-operate, and other relevant agencies in line with Memorandums of Understanding.
  • Support the Responsible Authorities within the MAPPA region to develop policies, procedures, and local guidance to support MAPPA operations in line with national guidance.

  • Liaise with senior partners to resolve difficulties impacting MAPPA's effective operation.
  • Work with Responsible Authorities to ensure the delivery of the MAPPA annual report.
  • Assist in assessing training needs and coordinating relevant training delivery.

Candidates must have a working knowledge of the MAPPA process. Operational experience, preferably at management level, working with sex offenders and violent offenders within Social Work, Police, Scottish Prison Services, Health Service, or other relevant agencies, is essential.

Excellent analytical and administrative skills are required, along with experience in delivering training.

Applicants should have a diploma or degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. Please refer to the Person Specification for full details on qualifications, skills, knowledge, and competencies.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential upon appointment. Successful candidates will be responsible for paying for their PVG membership or scheme checks.

These roles are excepted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
