Job summary

Tata Steel UK is recruiting a Manufacturing Team Member for the Building Systems UK site in Shotton. You’ll join a busy manufacturing team producing high-performance steel products for the construction sector, learning new skills and progressing through graded salary steps as you develop.

You’ll start at £28,274 with a structured training pathway, shift pattern designed to support work‑life balance, and clear pay progression up to £35,629 as you grow in the role.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing experience welcome but not essential.
• Strong focus on safety and working with others.
• Willingness to communicate, contribute and work with others.
• Good basic numeracy, literacy and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery and material-handling equipment safely and confidently.
• Learn our product ranges and select the right materials for processing.
• Help with routine equipment checks and maintenance to keep production moving.
• Get involved in problem solving and share ideas to improve processes.
• Handle and store materials safely and in line with customer and site requirements.
• Keep accurate stock information and maintain an organised workplace.

What you will do

At Building Systems UK in Shotton, we manufacture high-performance steel products used across the construction industry in the UK and beyond. You’ll be part of a busy manufacturing team producing products that make a real contribution to the buildings and projects our customers rely on.

As a Manufacturing Team Member, you’ll be right at the heart of our operation. It’s a practical, hands‑on role where you’ll learn new skills, work with a supportive team and help keep production running safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Operate machinery and material‑handling equipment safely and confidently
• Learn our product ranges and select the right materials for processing
• Help with routine equipment checks and maintenance to keep production moving
• Get involved in problem solving and share ideas that can make the way we work even better
• Handle and store materials safely and in line with customer and site requirements
• Keep accurate stock information and help maintain an organised workplace
• Work to our health, safety, environmental and quality standards at all times
• Share what you learn and support colleagues so the whole team can succeed

What you will need

You don’t need to know everything on day one. We’re looking for people who take pride in doing a good job, enjoy being part of a team and are keen to learn and develop.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous manufacturing experience is welcome, but it isn’t essential because full training is provided
• A positive, flexible approach and a strong focus on working safely
• A willingness to communicate, contribute and work well with others
• Good basic numeracy, literacy and IT skills
• A practical mindset, with mechanical aptitude and good spatial awareness
• The ability to stay focused, work safely and deliver when things get busy
