Job summary

Reed are seeking an experienced CNC Manufacturing Engineer / Supervisor to join our Rotherham manufacturing site. This hands-on leadership role involves supporting day-to-day machining operations, developing processes, and leading a team of CNC and manual machinists.

You will drive continuous improvement, review CAD/CAM drawings, create CNC programs, and ensure quality, safety and on-time production. A time-served apprenticeship and leadership experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Extensive CNC machining experience, including milling and turning.
• Proven supervisory or team-leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience programming CNC machines with Fanuc and/or XYZ controls.
• Strong CAD/CAM knowledge and ability to read engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of production schedules and targets on the shop floor.
• Lead, coach and support a team of CNC and manual machinists.

CNC Manufacturing Engineer / Supervisor

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Manufacturing Engineer / Supervisor to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Rotherham.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for supporting day-to-day machining operations, developing manufacturing processes, improving efficiencies, and leading a team of CNC and manual machinists. Working closely with senior production leadership, you will play a key role in ensuring production targets are achieved while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of production schedules and operational targets.
• Lead, coach and support a team of CNC and manual machinists.
• Ensure operators have the tools, equipment and information required to complete work efficiently.
• Develop, review and improve manufacturing methods and machining processes.
• Design and implement work-holding solutions.
• Review CAD models and extract manufacturing information.
• Create, edit, verify and simulate CNC programs.
• Provide technical support and process prove-out assistance on the shop floor.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, tooling sheets and inspection reports.
• Support continuous improvement activities and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Promote high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping throughout the department.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong machining background combined with supervisory or team leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

• CNC machining experience, including milling and turning.
• Experience programming CNC machines.
• Fanuc and/or XYZ control experience.
• Strong CAD/CAM knowledge.
• Previous team leader, supervisor or cell leader experience.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of inspection methods and measurement techniques.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Experience implementing 6S or workplace organisation initiatives.
• Time-served apprenticeship within a toolroom or machining environment.
• Leadership or management qualifications such as ILM.
