Job summary

Nicholas Associates Engineering are recruiting a Team Leader to oversee a CNC production area in a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will lead a multi-skilled team, manage performance against targets, and drive improvements across quality, safety and productivity.

Successful candidates will have prior team leadership in manufacturing, knowledge of CNC machinery, and strong problem-solving skills. The role operates 40 hours a week with a salary of £39,395 plus overtime, and offers

Qualifications

  • Previous experience leading a multi-skilled production team.
  • Experience in manufacturing/engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery and/or automated production equipment.
  • Good understanding of production targets, KPIs and performance management.
  • Experience of capacity planning and production scheduling.
  • Basic technical and inspection knowledge.
  • Experience working within Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement environments.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen, 5S and waste reduction.
  • Strong health & safety awareness, including risk assessments and COSHH.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of your area.
  • A hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Organise and control production staff to ensure targets and output requirements are achieved.
  • Lead daily shift start-up meetings and communicate production priorities effectively.
  • Support and develop a flexible, multi-skilled workforce.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures, including risk assessments, COSHH and manual handling requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
  • Ensure quality procedures and ISO 9001 requirements are followed.
  • Complete and maintain accurate production and manufacturing records.
  • Monitor build plans, productivity, utilisation, stock accuracy and WIP.
  • Liaise with production planning and management teams to ensure customer requirements are achieved.
  • Provide hand-on support to minimise production stoppages and maintain production flow.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor quality, productivity, safety and performance KPIs.
  • Escalate issues appropriately and take ownership of the production area.
  • Support the operation and management of CNC machinery and automated equipment.

Team Leader - CNC

Location: South Yorkshire

Salary: £39,395 per annum + overtime. Hours: 40 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Nicholas Associates Engineering are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK manufacturing business for an experienced Team Leader to join their production operation.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established manufacturer operating within a high-volume engineering environment, where you will take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of a production area, leading a multi-skilled team and ensuring production, quality and safety targets are achieved.

The Role

As Team Leader, you will take ownership of your designated production area, providing effective leadership while supporting the smooth operation of CNC machinery, robotics and associated manufacturing processes.

You will be responsible for driving productivity, maintaining quality standards and supporting continuous improvement across the area.

About You

The successful candidate will have previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering production environment, together with proven team leadership skills.

You should have:
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a multi-skilled production team.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery and/or automated production equipment.
  • Good understanding of production targets, KPIs and performance management.
  • Experience of capacity planning and production scheduling.
  • Basic technical and inspection knowledge.
  • Experience working within Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement environments.

07:30-16:30

Friday: 07:30-13:30
