Job summary

Meridian Business Support is recruiting on behalf of a well-established SME manufacturing client based in Somerset for a Manufacturing Operations Supervisor role. You will oversee production on a range of stainless steel tubular, wire and steel components to customer specifications.

The role focuses on ensuring efficient, accurate manufacturing, supervising colleagues, and maintaining safety and quality standards within a busy production environment. Overtime may be available.

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating machinery in a manufacturing, fabrication or engineering environment.
• Supervisory experience or ability to guide production colleagues.
• Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Experience with NC-controlled equipment advantageous.
• Engineering background beneficial.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate production machinery including auto-saws, guillotines, brake presses and tube bending equipment.
• Ensure products are manufactured accurately, efficiently and to targets.
• Supervise colleagues using prepared equipment.
• Carry out routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Support wider manufacturing activities including wire work, assembly, and press work as workload requires.
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping.

The Role

You will be working with a range of industrial equipment producing high-quality stainless steel tubular, wire and steel components to customer specifications.

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting and operating production machinery including auto-saws, guillotines, brake presses and tube bending equipment
• Ensuring products are manufactured accurately, efficiently and to agreed production targets
• Supervising and overseeing work carried out by colleagues using equipment you have prepared and set up
• Carrying out routine tool and equipment maintenance in line with company procedures
• Supporting wider manufacturing activities including wire work, assembly operations and press work as workload requires
• Maintaining high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping throughout the production environmentSkills and Experience

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience setting and operating machinery within a manufacturing, fabrication or engineering environment
• Supervisory experience or the ability to oversee and guide colleagues on production processes a distinct advantage
• Good mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
• Experience with NC-controlled equipment would be advantageous, although programming experience is not essential
• A background in engineering would be highly beneficial
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes and equipment
