Job summary

Emerson in Scotland (Cumbernauld) is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead a high-performing manufacturing operation, delivering safe, reliable and efficient customer commitments. You will shape operational excellence, drive continuous improvement, and support teams to achieve their full potential.

You will oversee end-to-end manufacturing execution, coach Value Stream Managers, and foster an inclusive culture that empowers teams to grow and excel in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years leading manufacturing or operations teams.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, performance metrics, and delivery commitments.
• Proven ability to lead through others, including layered team structures.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving skills with a focus on sustainable improvement.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and manage competing priorities effectively.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement approaches such as lean or similar methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall factory performance, including output, quality, delivery, and operational efficiency
• Provide leadership, coaching, and development to Value Stream Managers and their teams
• Align manufacturing execution with supply chain priorities and customer commitments
• Ensure consistent and effective production planning, sequencing, and execution across value streams
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement using lean methodologies and structured problem‑solving
• Drive improvements in equipment reliability, uptime, and manufacturing processes
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with supply chain, engineering, and commercial teams
• Support effective inventory and workflow management to optimise throughput and reduce delays
• Create an environment of accountability, transparency, and proactive communication
• Champion employee engagement, development, and inclusive team practices
