Job Summary

Join us in making a difference in aviation! You’ll help deliver operational excellence across our Civil, Defence, and Engines business lines at our East Cowes manufacturing plants. Established in 1901, our site employs about 800 staff and designs, manufactures, tests, and repairs high-performance structures and systems. Our facilities on the Isle of Wight include Falcon Yard, Ferry Road, and Osborne Site, Saunders Way, focusing on major assemblies and composite structures for the aerospace market. Our clients include Airbus, Boeing, Rolls Royce, and others.

Due to growth, we seek experienced Tooling Engineers to join our team. Based at East Cowes and reporting to the Manufacturing Engineer Manager, you will be part of a team of 6-10 engineers and should be flexible for limited travel, both nationally and internationally. We offer relocation support within the UK to the Isle of Wight.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop tooling solutions (mould tools, 5-axis fixtures, assembly jigs, shop aids) from concept to production.
• Design tooling for high process capability using Catia V5 and GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tools.
• Manage tooling fabrication quotes, input for new product quotes, and configuration changes involving cost, schedule, and implementation.
• Prioritize safety and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Use root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce non-conformances.
• Continuously improve production processes through Lean initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

• HNC in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with CAD software, preferably Catia V5.
• Experience in Tool Design within manufacturing.
• Experience in supply chain issues.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000 quality systems.
• Background in aerospace industry.
• Familiarity with AS9145 APQP or similar.
• ERP system experience.
• Ability to interpret aged drawings.
• Green Belt Certification.

This role requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC). Applicants must have resided in the UK for at least 5 years.
