Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer to join a skilled team delivering high-quality end-to-end manufacturing solutions for on-track components. You will rotate between the design office and machine shop, turning complex designs into reliably manufactured parts at the pace demanded by Formula 1.

Based in the United Kingdom (Woking), you will influence design for manufacture decisions upstream, govern within the design function, and support manufacture of a new race car.

Qualifications

• Strong manufacturing engineering experience with practical knowledge of design for manufacture, production routings, cost control and directed inspection.
• Experience of offline programming, setting and operating 3, 4 and 5-axis multi-tasking machining centres with CAD/CAM systems.

Responsibilities

• Embed design for manufacture best practice in reviews, supporting material selection, forecasting and early procurement decisions.
• Produce manufacturing solutions including stage models and drawings, production routings, raw material requirements, tooling selections and directed inspection requirements.
• Design robust tooling, fixturing and gauging to improve process reliability and maximise lights-out machining capability.
• Create efficient CNC programmes and set-up sheets with best practices in programming quality and process optimisation.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers, Machinists and stakeholders to resolve quality concerns and implement improvements.
