Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer to deliver end-to-end manufacturing solutions for high-performance race components, rotating between the design office and machine shop.

You'll influence design for manufacture, create CNC programs and tooling, collaborate with Process Engineers and machinists, and drive improvements that reduce waste and cost while enabling lights-out production.

Qualifications

• Strong manufacturing engineering experience, with practical knowledge of design for manufacture and production routings.
• Experience with offline programming and 3-, 4- and 5-axis machining, supported by CAD/CAM systems.
• Knowledge of tool management and MRP systems for complex components.
• Experience resolving quality concerns using 8D, 5 Why and fishbone analysis, with a record of continuous improvement.
• NVQ Level 4/5 or HNC/HND or equivalent qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Embed design for manufacture best practice within scheming, concept and design reviews, supporting material selection, forecasting and early procurement decisions.
• Produce manufacturing solutions including stage models and drawings, production routings, raw material requirements, tooling selections and directed inspection requirements.
• Design robust tooling, fixturing and gauging that improves process reliability, supports right-first-time delivery and maximises lights-out machining capability.
• Create efficient CNC programmes and set-up sheets, applying best practice in programming quality, workholding, cutter selection, process optimisation and standardisation.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers, Machinists and wider stakeholders to resolve quality concerns, deliver corrective actions and implement improvements that reduce waste, control cost and support sustainable manufacture.
