Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer to deliver high-quality, end-to-end manufacturing solutions. You will rotate between the design office and machine shop, translating complex designs into reliably manufactured components at Formula 1 pace.

You’ll embed DFM in early design reviews, develop manufacturing routings, and lead tooling and gauging improvements to maximise lights-out capability. A strong background in multi-axis machining and CAD/CAM is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with design for manufacture and production routings.
• Experience with offline programming and 3– to 5–axis machining.
• Knowledge of tool management and MRP systems.
• Experience resolving quality concerns using structured problem-solving (8D, 5 Why, fishbone).
• NVQ4/5 or HNC/HND or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Embed design for manufacture in reviews and material forecasting.
• Produce manufacturing solutions including routings and material requirements.
• Design tooling, fixturing and gauging to improve reliability.
• Create CNC programmes and setup sheets with process optimisation.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers and machinists to resolve quality concerns and drive improvements.
