Job description

A hands-on manufacturing engineering role to define and deliver MasterMover's UK-to-US Primary Build programme.

Location: Ashbourne, Derbyshire, with involvement in US operations programme delivery

Function: Operations / Manufacturing Engineering / Continuous Improvement

Contract: Full time, permanent

Role focus: Lean manufacturing, project delivery, primary build process design, US conversion capability and Epicor-enabled operational improvement

The Opportunity

MasterMover is creating a new operating model where products are built to a defined Primary Build Stage in Ashbourne, shipped to the United States and then converted to customer-specific orders in the US. We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer with strong project management capability to help define, launch and improve this model.

What you will lead

  • Define and implement optimal build processes using Lean manufacturing methods and industry best practice.
  • Lead the practical delivery of the Primary Build programme: product definition, BOM structures, conversion process, work instructions, tooling, space, labour and launch readiness.
  • Design the process by which UK-built primary build units are converted into customer orders in the US.
  • Work with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, IT/Epicor and US Operations to coordinate decisions and deliverables.
  • Support Stage 1 of the programme: getting the UK-to-US operating model up and running.
  • Support Stage 2 of the programme: automation, lean optimisation, replenishment workflows, cost reduction and benefits delivery.

Key Projects you will help deliver

  • Define the Primary Build standard for relevant product families.
  • Create Primary Build and Conversion BOM structures that support production, costing, stock movement and customer configuration.
  • Define the conversion-to-customer-order process in the US, including assembly, configuration, quality checks, testing and despatch.
  • Create clear, visual work instructions and training documentation for UK and US operators.
  • Define tools, fixtures, jigs, test equipment, safety controls and workspace requirements.
  • Support the definition of operator numbers, recruitment needs and training plans.
  • Work with the programme team to identify US premises requirements and practical launch readiness.
  • Support the design of shipping, packaging, stock movement and Epicor-enabled replenishment workflows.

About you

  • Experienced in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering or continuous improvement within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Comfortable leading cross-functional projects from definition through to implementation.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Lean tools such as standard work, value stream mapping, 5S, line balancing, Kaizen and root cause analysis.
  • Able to turn ambiguous operational challenges into clear processes, documented standards and measurable improvement plans.
  • Confident working on the factory floor while also coordinating stakeholders across engineering, operations, supply chain and systems.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to identify savings across labour, materials, logistics, inventory and process efficiency.
  • Take a central role in shaping a new UK-to-US manufacturing and fulfilment model.
  • Deliver practical improvements that directly affect safety, quality, lead time, productivity and cost.
  • Work in a business where manufacturing excellence, innovation and operational impact matter.
  • Help build a scalable operating model capable of supporting growth in North America.

To design and deliver world-class manufacturing processes that enable MasterMover products to be built safely and efficiently in Ashbourne, shipped as primary build products, and converted to customer-specific orders in the US through a controlled, scalable and progressively automated operating model.

MasterMover is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from candidates who are motivated by engineering excellence, practical project delivery and continuous improvement.
