Job summary

The Hire Place LLP in the United Kingdom is seeking a Project Manufacturing Engineer to support and optimise production across multiple international sites, with about 70% base at the Wellingborough facility. Qualifications

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Comfortable in carrying out an analytical role with hands-on support.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and process flows.
  • Experience using CAD, Excel, and data analysis tools.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Analytical with a practical, hands-on mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Process Improvement & Operational Excellence.
  • Analyse UK manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Develop and standardise SOPs, process documentation, and working practices across multiple regions.
  • Relevant projects will ultimately be rolled out across international sites.
  • Production Engineering Support - Provide hands-on, mechanical/electrical assistance where and when required.
  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to UK and international production teams both on-site and remotely.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Support maintenance and operations teams with equipment troubleshooting and reliability improvements.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Work closely with design, R&D, and commercial teams to introduce new products into production.
  • Develop manufacturing methods, tooling solutions, and scalable production processes.
  • Conduct process trials, validation activities, and support full production rollouts across multiple sites.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Use manufacturing data to support decision-making, including cycle time analysis, capacity planning, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Produce technical reports, ROI evaluations, and project updates.

PROJECT MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

A growing international manufacturer is seeking a Project Manufacturing Engineer to support and optimise production operations across multiple global sites.

Primarily based from their Wellingborough, Northants site (around 70%); this is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative, rapidly expanding business that designs and manufactures products for customers across the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia. The role offers international exposure and the chance to play a key part in driving operational excellence across a rapidly expanding manufacturing network.

THE ROLE:

Reporting into the engineering function, the Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical expertise and hands‑on support across several international manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will focus on process optimisation, production efficiency, continuous improvement, and the successful industrialisation of new products.

This role would suit an engineer who enjoys combining practical problem‑solving with data‑driven analysis in a collaborative, multi‑site environment.
