Job Summary

Join us in making a difference to the future of aviation! You’ll help us deliver operational excellence across our Civil, Defence, and Engines business lines at our East Cowes manufacturing plants. Established in 1901, our East Cowes site employs around 800 people. Located on the Isle of Wight, we design, manufacture, test, and repair high-performance structures and systems for the aerospace market, working with clients like Airbus, Boeing, Rolls Royce, and others.

We are seeking experienced Manufacturing Engineers, specializing in Product and Planning, to join our team due to growth. Based at East Cowes and reporting to the Manufacturing Engineer Manager, you will provide engineering expertise to operational and development programs, ensuring zero defect projects. You will be responsible for delivering robust manufacturing processes related to materials, tooling, and assembly.

The role requires flexibility for limited travel and involves joining a team of 6-10 Manufacturing Engineers. We offer relocation support within the UK to the Isle of Wight for successful applicants.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety and ensure compliance with GKN Aerospace policies.
  • Develop manufacturing process solutions for complex problems.
  • Implement production planning from concept to production, utilizing Zero Defect Manufacturing tools.
  • Manage product development, first article approval, and process definition.
  • Provide technical solutions and support for manufacturing processes.
  • Use root cause analysis and corrective actions to address non-conformances.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve processes through Lean initiatives.
  • Apply APQP tools for problem-solving.

Candidate Profile

  • HNC or higher qualification in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering within composites manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of quality systems like ISO9000, AS9100, D1-9000.
  • Background in Aerospace industry.
  • Experience in Project/Program Management.
  • Familiarity with APQP (e.g., AS9145) or equivalent.
  • Understanding of ERP systems.
  • Green Belt certification.

This role requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC). Applicants should have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years.
