Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a Mid Level Manufacturing Engineer to join the Portsmouth team onsite. You will act as the key interface between design and manufacturing to ensure products meet quality, cost, and delivery targets throughout the NPI lifecycle.

Responsibilities include leading NPI activities, developing manufacturing docs, and driving process improvements across the product lifecycle in a highly regulated aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' engineering experience within aerospace, space, defence, military electronics, or other highly regulated sectors.
• Experience with electronic manufacturing, PCB assembly, SMT, and high-reliability electronics.
• Understanding of full product lifecycle from design to production.
• Familiarity with manufacturing systems and tools such as CAD, CAM, MES, ERP/SAP, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead Manufacturing Engineering activities for NPI projects.
• Ensure seamless transition of products from design through to production readiness.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation (work instructions, routings, cost models).
• Assess capability and identify limitations impacting delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical and operational challenges.
