Job summary

Johnson Controls in Stockport is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve assembly, test and production processes in our site-based operation. You will drive operational excellence through Lean manufacturing, NPI projects and capital investment programmes.

Working with cross-functional teams, you will develop processes, tooling, SOPs and validation plans, mentor junior engineers, and ensure safety, quality and cost performance while reducing downtime.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years in a manufacturing engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of assembly, test and production manufacturing processes.
• Experience leading manufacturing improvement and engineering projects.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and create process documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day engineering support for manual and automated assembly, test and production processes.
• Analyse production data to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement Lean initiatives.
• Lead manufacturing improvement and capital expenditure projects from concept to handover.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime and improve process performance.
• Coordinate engineering activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and ensure successful production implementation.
• Develop production processes, tooling, fixtures, work instructions and validation plans; create and maintain SOPs.
