Job Description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer – Composite Moulding

Working Pattern: Full time

Location: Bristol

Rolls-Royce is developing manufacturing methods, processes, and materials for composite fan systems. We are experiencing growth as we deliver composite components and manufacturing programs across Civil Aerospace and Defence divisions.

This role offers an opportunity to work within the Composite Technology Facility (CTF) as part of our Engineering, Technology, and Safety business. Responsibilities include developing resin transfer moulding (RTM) processes, autoclave, and out-of-autoclave processing of pre-impregnated fibre preforms. The position is based in Bristol, with visits to offsite facilities, collaborating with teams including Rolls-Royce Derby, external suppliers, and the National Composites Centre (NCC).

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver composite moulding processes (RTM, autoclave, out-of-autoclave) for the latest fan systems.
  • Ensure processes meet safety, quality, cost, delivery, and lead time requirements.
  • Create technical packages including equipment specifications, TI’s, PFMEAs, tooling, and HSE documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements using statistical process control (Ppk, Cpk).
  • Drive the process towards zero defects, owning technology strategy for fan system industrialization.
Candidate Profile

We seek individuals who prioritize safety, integrity, simplicity, and impact. To succeed, you should have:

  • An engineering or relevant discipline degree, HND, or HNC with manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with RTM, autoclave, and out-of-autoclave processes, including handling dry fibres.
  • Understanding of technology readiness levels (TRL) and process maturity.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering tools to improve processes towards zero defects.
  • Experience with aerospace management systems and process controls.
