Job summary

Omega, based in Gloucestershire, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Composites) to lead development of aerospace composite components. The role requires expertise in composite materials, carbon fiber, and a strong manufacturing background with process and quality improvements.

The candidate will design for manufacturability, develop routings/BoMs, and implement quality procedures while collaborating with tooling, QA, procurement, and BD teams. A permanent position.

THE ROLE – Manufacturing Engineer (Composites)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stand-out aerospace engineering business as a Manufacturing Engineer in the development of aerospace components of a composite nature.

As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll need to possess both understanding of composites materials and their properties and also have a strong manufacturing background including process and quality improvements.

You’ll need to be able to demonstrate key experience composite materials, with experience in carbon composites being highly desirable.

DUTIES – Manufacturing Engineer (Composites)

• Support product design for manufacture as required.
• Create Routings and BoM’s.
• Develop Process Sheets as required for Standard Procedures.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures and have an Inspection plan is in place.
• Working with the Tooling Design team create the Tooling Concepts / Requirements.
• Develop PFMEAs to identify and mitigate risks.
• Review production data and recommend improvements in quality control and efficiency
• Support procurement with technical guidance.
• Support BD with quotations (methodology and costings).

BACKGROUND – Manufacturing Engineer (Composites)

• Experience of Composite manufacture and processing
• Strong understanding of composite materials - particularly carbon fiber
• Understanding quality control within aerospace.
• Proficiency in CAD (Solidworks preferable)
• Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
