Job summary

Recruit Engineering is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support a large-scale vehicle assembly programme in Stockport. The role focuses on developing and improving Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) processes, working with production and engineering teams to ensure builds are efficient, repeatable and fit for purpose.

You will balance shop-floor support with process development, lead improvement initiatives using lean methods, and contribute to design for manufacture input and documentation

Qualifications

  • HND, degree or apprenticeship in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Background in a technical or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience improving processes and supporting production activity.
  • Understanding of engineering change and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to work from drawings through to production build.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Comfortable working across production, engineering and project teams.
  • Basic IT skills, with experience of MES or similar systems.

Responsibilities

  • Developing Assembly, Integration and Test processes for vehicle build programmes.
  • Transferring knowledge from existing production lines into new manufacturing environments.
  • Acting as the shop-floor point of contact for process, tooling and build queries.
  • Leading root cause investigations and driving practical process improvements.
  • Supporting production ramp-up activities and resolving build issues as they arise.
  • Driving continuous improvement through lean methods, line balancing and waste reduction.
  • Providing Design for Manufacture input to support design teams.
  • Producing SOPs, work instructions and wider process documentation.
  • Supporting BOM structuring from drawing through to manufacture.
  • Working closely with production and project teams throughout build phases.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety and quality requirements.

A specialist engineering manufacturer is looking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer to support a large-scale vehicle assembly programme.

The role centres on developing and improving Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) processes, working closely with production and engineering teams to make sure builds are efficient, repeatable and genuinely fit for purpose. You'll be involved in shaping manufacturing processes from the early stages right through to full production, splitting your time between shop-floor support and process development.

The Role
