Job summary

GKN Aerospace seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support the special processes department and own a designated area. You will provide manufacturing engineering capability to programs, deliver robust process technology, and apply tools to maintain zero-defect standards.

You will work across production with Lean initiatives, issue resolution, and vendor quality control to improve efficiency and product quality within aerospace manufacturing environments.

We are recruiting for our client GKN Aerospace who require a Manufacturing Engineer to work in their special processes department.

The Manufacturing Engineer will support across the team as well as having their own designated area.

Role

Provide Manufacturing Engineering capability to operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. Accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly. This role operates in special process covering chemical, paint, chrome amongst others.

General

Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.

Responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problemswithin GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers.

Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integrationfor production.

Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminatenon-conformances.

Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, aswell as co-workers

Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.

Responsible for the implementation of materials & process methods andsolutions, from original concept through to production.

Deploy these processes with a high degree of process capability utilizingthe GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite todemonstrate as such.

Responsible for technical support of manufacturing development andintegration for production.

Resolve issues pertaining to vendor quality.

Provide specialist knowledge to production activities with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency, product quality and the reduction of non conforming parts.

Essential:

• Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification /background (university degree) in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical)
• Fully competent in own field of work, developing skills in other areas.
• Increasingly able to provide Technical input at all levels of work
• Capable of being a technical representative, representing the business at acustomer / supplier meeting
• Identifies and anticipates technical problems and offers solutions
