Job summary

Amcor Swansea seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead cost reductions, process improvements and capital projects across the site. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will focus on waste reduction and other productivity improvements to deliver annual targets.

You will work with maintenance and operations to deploy AFPS standards, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with central teams on transformation initiatives and KPI tracking to sustain safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a science, technology or engineering subject required.
  • Experience in a fast-paced operations environment with a strong focus towards operational excellence.
  • 5+ years manufacturing, engineering, and process efforts.
  • 5+ years participation in process improvement / manufacturing engineering.
  • Large capital expense project management capabilities.
  • Manufacturing Engineering (Standard Operations, plant layout, waste elimination, continuous improvement, engineering change control, PFMEA, SPC, process capability, value stream mapping)
  • Strong problem‑solving skills (containment & countermeasure).
  • Ability to analyse data and communicate results clearly.
  • Hands‑on technical skill.
  • Project management and extremely high level of organisation.
  • Communication, influencing, negotiating and assertiveness.
  • Deep understanding of technical manufacturing.
  • Decision making, sound business judgement.
  • Report writing & presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure OHSE policy adherence and drive improvement to enhance safe operations on site.
  • Provide daily technical support for all production areas as required for efficient operation, specific focus on waste and quality.
  • Lead capital expense projects; opportunity identification, TRACE submission and project management through final installation and start-up.
  • Support function for maintenance and production teams.
  • Contractor control ensuring safe working procedures and adherence to Amcor policies.
  • Contribute to & implement to the strategic plan for the business.
  • Sustainably embed the Amcor Flexibles Production System (AFPS) including KPIs, standards and process best practices.
  • Coordination and collaboration activities with central teams on transformation work.
  • Diagnose key improvement opportunities and set aspirational improvement targets.
  • Establish annual targets and priorities around cost removal and plan.
  • Implement site production improvement programme; project selection, pillar development, daily control and all associated activities.
  • Report outs of savings associated with waste and cost removal to internal and external stakeholders.

Job Purpose

To provide leadership and active participation in the reduction of costs, improvement of process, management of capital projects and resources connected to process improvement at the site. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will focus heavily on waste improvement and other large opportunities to ensure delivery of the annual budget, with an aggressive cost take out agenda while deploying technical support to operations as required.

Principal Accountabilities
