Job summary

Pall Corporation, a Danaher company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for its on-site team in Redruth, Cornwall, UK. The role focuses on developing strategies, processes and equipment to enable cost-effective, high-quality production.

You will work with production and design engineering to optimize routings, SOPs, fixtures and tooling, determining whether to build tooling in-house or sub-contract. A strong Lean mindset and hands-on manufacturing experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Formal engineering qualification to at least HNC level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Lean Manufacturing principles & Manufacturing Engineering knowledge.
• At least three years hands-on production/manufacturing engineering experience, including welding, fabrication & sheet metal.
• Knowledge of bills of materials, routings, manufacturing procedures, tooling/fixture design, Lean CI, NPI.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies, systems, processes and equipment for efficient production of quality and cost-effective products.
• Collaborate with design/production teams to optimize manufacturing routings, SOPs, fixtures and tooling.
• Determine in-house vs subcontracted tooling and ensure on-time, cost-effective procurement.
• Support safe operating procedures for changed processes.
• Identify and develop production, assembly & test processes for economical manufacturing.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing effective strategies, systems, processes and equipment, to enable and enhance efficient production of quality and cost-effective products. In this role you will be a key member of the team, with your own area of responsibility.

This position reports to the Air senior manufacturing engineer and is part of the manufacturing engineering team in Redruth, Cornwall, UK. This will be an on-site role.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Working with the production teams to schedule, process costs and identify appropriate methods of manufacturing, whilst liaising with Design Engineering in relation to prototype and development to achieve improved manufacturing methods
• Align with specific product lines to ensure all relative routings - SOPs, fixtures, tooling, procedures, processes, etc. are appropriately in place for manufacturing.
• Determining whether tooling is to be built in-house or sub-contracted out and maintain the responsibility of ensuring cost effective on time procurement.
• Assume the responsibilities for safe operating implementation for changed processes. This includes written and or oral operating procedures.
• Identifying and development of all production, assembly & test processes and procedures, ensuring products are produced in most economical proficient manner.

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include

• Formal engineering qualification to at least HNC level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
• In-depth knowledge and experience of Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering principles and practices, coupled with understanding of assembly, machining and fabrication techniques and limitations
• A minimum of three experience of hands‑on production/manufacturing engineering, including familiarity with welding, fabrication and general sheet metal operations, and small machine/equipment design.
• Knowledge of bills of material, routings, manufacturing procedures, tooling/fixture design, Lean Manufacturing / C.I. principles, NPI.
