The Manufacturing Engineer will work to improve the efficiency, quality and productivity of the Manchester site manufacturing cells, Automated Storage installation and Commissioning

Delivery of Objectives and projects on time and within budget. Must strive for Continuous Improvement, utilizing Lean techniques in all aspects of manufacturing and deliver year on year productivity and process improvements.

Achieve and Improve targets in:

  • Productivity, time measurements and improvements
  • Quality, first time pass measurement and improvements

Assist and facilitate :

  • Manufacturing efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Product Quality monitoring
  • Change control

What you’ll be doing:

  • Promote the use of lean manufacturing within the production and implement continuous improvement activities that may be identified
  • Lead small teams of staff in continuous improvement activities, develop/co-ordinate changes to existing production cell layouts, technical assembly & test equipment and manufacturing strategy to generate improvements in productivity.
  • Using visual management tools via Lean techniques to drive improvement in site engagement in the production process plus improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP)
  • Work in cross functional teams on all product development projects promoting Lean philosophy and methods, and Design for Manufacture philosophies through from product design, in the supply chain and into manufacture.
  • Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.
  • Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products.
  • Estimates manufacturing cost determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
  • Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
  • Delivery on time and cost of any projects agreed with departmental manager.
  • Development of processes and study for errors and improvements.
  • Manufacturing layout design and procurement.
  • Investigate, implement production techniques as instructed.
  • Tooling, production equipment, specify and procure.
  • Instigate and implement quality improvements.
  • Enable production to meet target deadlines
  • Liaise between departments to aid production.

What you’ll need:

  • Proficient with tools, systems, and procedures associated with Lean manufacturing, this is essential.
  • Professionally qualified Engineer (UK minimum HND/foundation degree or equivalent) in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing process, understands and applies most principles, theories, concepts, and techniques utilized in the discipline.
  • Ability to provideresolution to various problems of moderately complex scope.
  • Must have a flexible can-do attitude, with well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Must have ability to meet deadlines and the ability to plan and prioritizes their own workload.
  • A strong, proactive communicator and leader who works equally well within a team environment as well as on their own.
  • Presentable and able to represent the company in a professional manner with suppliers and customers.
