Job summary

Revvity is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Mechatronics) to own the full journey from concept to production for a primary instrument or product group in Llantrisant. You will drive New Product Introduction (NPI), ensure product quality and performance, and lead a team of engineers through design reviews, prototyping, and manufacturing handover.

Qualifications

  • BSc, MSc or equivalent in Electro-Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Strong grounding in chemistry and physics with an understanding of optical systems.
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodologies, Agile or other project management approaches.
  • Minimum 5 years' engineering experience.
  • Experience with both New Product Introduction (NPI) and volume manufacturing of technical assemblies.
  • Proven delivery against commitments and stretch goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full journey from concept to production for the assigned instrument or product group.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and collaborate cross-functionally to meet timelines.
  • Mentor engineers, plan projects, estimate tasks, and ensure quality controls.
  • Coordinate with design, manufacturing and R&D for DFM, testing and prototyping.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.

As a Manufacturing Engineer (Mechatronics), you’ll own the full journey – from concept to production – for some of the most technically sophisticated instruments in the diagnostics industry. You’ll work at the heart of our manufacturing operations, driving New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and performance. You’ll be assigned ownership of a primary instrument or product group, becoming the go‑to expert on its build, test, and process requirements, and you’ll carry that stewardship all the way through to full operational handover.

Manufacturing Support

Working in close project collaboration with the manufacturing operations teams, Research and Development etc. ownership for the facility and bring to life NPI’s in a timely manner. Work with other members of the engineering team and manufacturing to translate product requirements into functional specifications. Building and evaluating prototypes.

Team Leadership

Team Leadership including: Directing and mentoring other engineers within a project team. Project planning and estimation of Engineering tasks Planning and executing a risk management plan Task delivery, delegation and monitoring. Ensuring Mechanical Engineering deliverables are met. Direction of external consultants and suppliers Provide project plans; Milestones, resources, detailed activities and agreed, Quality controls and strict health and safety criteria, conducting business risk planning and mitigation of risk where applicable. Liaise with New Product Design team on; DFM (DfX), testing and prototyping of concept designs, new product development stage gates and manufacturing time lines. Develop clear feedback process to ensure any manufacturing concerns are recorded.

Process Ability

Ability to assess technical risk and to formulate effective risk management strategy including analysis and evaluation program.

Product Development

Work within our product development process Conduct design reviews and react to input from other members of the project team Produce the required level of documentation Drive continuous improvement of the mechanical engineering elements of our processes. Previous involvement in most aspects of the development life cycle, from initial analysis and design to implementation, testing and documentation.

Leadership

Demonstrable experience in leading small teams and external consultants. Ability to plan projects and allocate tasks Formal training in leadership / management General Good communication skills, enabling successful interaction with team leaders, fellow engineers and engineering management Self‑motivated with drive to keep abreast of new technologies and market / industry trends. A pro‑active approach to problem identification and resolution. Able to reach across functional boundaries to overcome obstacles. Keeps sight of commercial objectives and prioritise work appropriately. Willing to work within structured development program and take responsibility for product delivery. Able to critically look at performance and engineering practices to define and improve departmental procedures.

Travel

Travel: Both domestic and international travel will be required on an ad hoc basis for this position.

Qualifications
  • BSc, MSc or equivalent degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering is preferable.
  • Good grounding in Chemistry and Physics with a high level of understanding of optical systems.
  • Understanding and practice of Six Sigma methodologies 'Agile' or other project management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience is sought after, time served in an engineering role.
  • Understanding of and experience in the environments and requirements for both New Product Introduction (NPI) and volume manufacturing of technical assemblies.
