Job summary

CAV Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the team in Consett, County Durham. You will support launching new products and processes into production, optimise capabilities, and drive Lean improvements across the manufacturing floor.

Key responsibilities include reducing costs, enhancing quality, and expanding production through capital projects, equipment upgrades, and risk mitigation while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a aerospace-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with manual and automated manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems.
• Experience applying lean manufacturing techniques.
• Strong problem solving and prioritisation skills.
• Robot programming experience preferred.
• Proficient with MINITAB and 8D problem solving.
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD modelling.
• Extensive manufacturing engineering experience in a related sector.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships.

Responsibilities

• Improve and optimise existing production processes to cut costs and raise quality using LEAN.
• Identify, develop and install new equipment, jigs and fixtures for process/safety gains.
• Continuously identify production risks and mitigation actions.
• Manage capital projects to meet budget and schedule.

Were now looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team based in Consett, County Durham. Within this role you will actively support the Manufacturing Engineering team to launch new products and processes into the production environment, as well as optimising and expanding our production capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Improvement and optimisation of existing production processes to reduce costs, improve quality and expand existing capabilities using LEAN methodologies.
• Identify, develop and implement new manufacturing equipment, machinery, jigs and fixtures to achieve process or safety improvements.
• Continuous identification of production risks, mitigation actions and contingency plans.
• Project management of capital projects with delivery to agreed budget and timescales.

Key qualities

• Strong knowledge of manual and automated manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with quality systems such as AS9100, ISO 9001 or equivalent.
• Ability to implement lean manufacturing processes.
• Excellent problem solving and prioritisation skills.
• Ideally experienced in robot programming
• Ability to use software and methodologies including MINITAB, 8D or similar to analyse data.
• Experience of 2D and 3D CAD modelling software.
• Extensive experience in manufacturing engineering in a similar industry.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships.
• Degree, HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
